KoAm works primarily with the educational and cultural exchanges between the United States and Korea. Mr. Jae H. Park who founded KoAm is a Korean American who has studied and worked in the U.S. for over 30 years. KoAm’s staff includes Korean Americans with extensive experience and understanding of both cultures. With such noted expertise in both of the countries served, KoAm is able to pay attention to the details surrounding an exchange and to comprehend the needs and desires of the participants from a cultural perspective. We understand the differences in culture, language, lifestyle, and traditions between all of our participants; ensuring a much more successful and satisfying experience for all of our participants. 

In addition to the main office in the U.S., KoAm has an office in Korea that offers many benefits to the exchange experience. With one management serving both the U.S. and Korea operations; there is consistency in the whole process, providing seamless support and communication to all participants. KoAm’s Korea staff holds promotional seminars and information sessions for the KoAm programs and conducts thorough screenings of the students to ensure they are prepared to study in America and spend time away from their families. They work hard to educate the Korean students and families as well as bridge the cultural gap. This process helps us to place the ‘Right-fit’ students with the 'Right-fit' host families.

KoAm’s Korea office also works on the management of our students and their natural families back in Korea. Throughout the academic year, KoAm’s Korea office facilitates communication by updating the Korean families about their children, providing face-to-face support for the Korean families. Once our students return to Korea during the summer, the students may come to our Korea office to be re-tested in SLEP (English score testing) to measure their improvement. KoAm’s Korea office provides a welcome back party presenting the certificate of completion and awards for students, and provide counseling for well adjustment back to Korea and other future endeavors.

KoAm has an active US office, Korea office and local coordinator system to serve our American host families, schools, exchange students, and Korean parents. While KoAm’s Korea office works to prepare our students and their families before the program begins through training and orientations; KoAm’s U.S. office provides continual operational, educational, cultural and spiritual support from the U.S. Direct support comes from the representative in each area serving as KoAm’s area coordinator, school coordinator, regional coordinator and local contacts. We strive to make the exchange experience as smooth as possible by taking care of the details surrounding the exchange. 

Our coordinators provide this support to our host families and students with regular visits throughout the academic year by facilitating communication, resolving conflicts, and doing anything else either party might need for a positive experience. Most of our staff have much experience with Korea and understand the cultural, social, linguistic, and educational environment of both countries. Host families are provided with an orientation before the program and feel secure in the fact that they are fully supported. Our KoAm coordinator will conduct routine visits and call with survey questions to inquire on how everything is going. Our KoAm staff are always available to respond to the needs of all parties as well as to help avoid any miscommunication that may occur.

Usually, most of the exchange students are high school students. However, from the educational research and experience, we have discovered that from 4th grade on, a child can start to learn a secondary language effectively. The students who are 4th through 8th grade are more likely to reap the full benefit of experiencing different cultures, because they are in the growing stage, actively learning from the environment that they are provided with. They also start to form their dreams and perspectives. Their tongues are still pliable, allowing them to easily learn new languages. You'll enjoy and witness the growth and development these students go through under your love and care. Therefore, in addition to the usual age group of 9th through 12th grade exchange students, who also share wonderful perspectives of another culture with our American schools and families; KoAm has added the younger age group.
